Enos Dickerman, the husband of Lois Alling, son of Jonathan and Rebecca (Bassett) Dickerman, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and died, it is said, of disease while on duty at New York. His youngest son was born after his death, and was named Benoni, in allusion to the story in Genesis XXXV, 18, commemorating thus the grief of the family. (Dickerman Genealogy)
