He died there aged 88 in June 2000. He married in Canterbury, Kent, in 1937, Mabel Evelyn Clifford, daughter of Cyril Claude Clifford and Edith Mills.5 Mabel was born in Dartford, Kent, on 20 February 1917 and died aged 75 in Canterbury, Kent, in 1992. At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, William was living at 2 Prickle Lane, Canterbury, Kent. He was a plasterer. One of three closed records was probably that of his wife Mabel.
