      Frank W. Sackett

Cape Vincent, March 31. Word was received here Tuesday night of the death of Francis Williams Sacket, 58, prominent resident of this village. Mr. Sacket had been in ill health for the past six months or more, suffering from heart trouble, and his health had been expected for some time. He died at 5 Tuesday afternoon at the Sagamore Hotel, where he and Mrs. Sacket had taken apartments for the winter.

While Mr. Sacket was a young man and engaged in an outdoor sport, he suffered an injury to his leg, but no serious consequences resulted immediately. During the past decade, however, a lameness developed, which was attributed to this earlier injury.

Mr. Sacket was first taken seriously ill in November of last year and at this time he went to consult a specialist in Boston. Instead of following his usual custom of going to Atlantic City and New York for the winter, he had taken residence in Rochester last October.

In February his condition became such that it had been planned to take him to another specialist but he was then in such a weakened condition that it was decided it would be fatal for him to take the trip.

He gradually failed until the end came Tuesday afternoon.

The body will be brought here Thursday afternoon, arriving on the afternoon train. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 from St. John?s Protestant Episcopal church, Rev. John Fairburn officiating. The remains will be placed in the vault and burial will be made later in the spring at Riverside cemetery.

Francis Williams Sacket was born Sept. 15, 1867 in Louisville, Ky., son of General Delos B. and Frances Ann Williams Sacket. He was educated in Trinity school on the Hudson and in 1887 entered Yale college, completing his course with the class of 1891. Since his graduation from school he had passed most of his life in this village, excepting during the winters when he traveled to Atlantic City and New York city.

He was a member of St. John?s Protestant Episcopal church of this village, of the Elks and was also prominent in the Masonic lodge, belonging to Cape Vincent Lodge No. 233, F. and A. M.; Chapter No. 96, R. A. M. and Watertown Comandery, No. 11 K. T. He was a member of the University Club, New York, and the Black River Valley Club of Watertown. A Republican in politics, he was interested in civic affairs and several times served as president of the village.

His marriage to Miss Edith Scobell, June 1, 1904, united two families which had been long been prominent in the village.

Surviving besides his wife are a brother, Cornelius T. Sacket, of this village, now on his way here from Atlantic City, and a sister, Mrs. Eluza Ross De Valin, also of this village.

[The obituary closes with a lengthy description of his father's military career.]
