RICKELS
A celebration of life for Grace Rickels was held 11:00 Monday morning, December 23, 1996 at St Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. The Rev. Jerry Egel officiated at the services. Interment was at Prairie Hill Cemetery, rural Monticello. Grace Rickels, age 92, of Anamosa, died Friday
morning, December 20, at the Anamosa Care Center following a lengthy illness. Grace was born September 28,1904 at rural Scotch Grove. She was the daughter of Matthew and Bertha King Sackett. She graduated from Marion High School and later received her normal school training. She taught country school in rural Jones County before her marriage. On June 26,1929, she was united in marriage with Gerhard Fred Rickels at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. The couple farmed their entire married life. In addition to being a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grace taught Sunday and Bible School at, St. Paul for many years and also was a member of the Sarah Circle.
She is survived by one daughter, Velda (Don) Tufts of Marion; one sister, Dorothy Frank of Wyondotte, MI and four brothers, Ellis Sackett of Marion, Willis Sackett of Walker, Leonard Sackett of Hopkinton and James Sackett of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1968; two brothers, Walter and Roy Sackett and one sister, Marie Hoch.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church,Anamosa or Camp Courageous.

Lucille Evelyn Sackett, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Monday, May 15, 2017 at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lucille was born July 28, 1927, the daughter of Lewis and Lenora (Willard) Dunkel, in Hopkinton. She was married to James Donald Sackett on July 31, 1948 in Savannah, Illinois. Together, they enjoyed traveling around the country in their motor home. He passed away in 2008. Lucille worked for Rockwell Collins as a Group Leader in the White Room for thirty-two years. She also worked retail at Sears for ten years. Lucille liked playing bingo and hunting mushrooms. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. More than anything Lucille loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her four children, Barbara (Gerald) Dessert, Gary (Jennifer) Sackett, Larry (Ava) Sackett, Joan (Wendell) Snow; eight grandchildren, Megan (Andrew) Brigger, Cristina Dessert, Benjamin Sackett, Daniel Sackett, Lukas Garcia, Rachel Sackett, Amanda (Austen) Fiala, Emily (Eric) Fritz; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Sackett; three brothers, Harlan (Marie) Dunkel, Louis Dunkel, Lyle (Mary Anne) Dunkel; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Debbie, Keith, and Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sandra Kay Sackett; parents; three brothers; and one sister.
Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House or the American Cancer Society in memory of Lucille.
