Will of Porter Sackett, dead.
I Porter Sackett of the City of Natchez do make and Publish this my last will and Testament, and first I direct that my body be decently interred in the burying ground of the City of Natchez according to the rights and Ceremonies of the Methodist Episcopal Church and that my funeral be Conducted according to or corresponding with my manner, Estate and Situation in life; and as to such worldly Estate as it hath pleased god to intrust me with I dispose of the same as followers; and first I direct that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first monies that shall come into the hads of my Executor fro the monies and Notes of hand or accounts in my pocket Wallet. Also I direct that the contents of the Said Pocket Wallet Viz. five dollars in Notes on the Agricultural Bank in Natchez a receipt for One hundred and twenty nine dollars to be collected by A. Clemendine and Signed by Charles W. Pitts of Baltimore a bill against James Caldwell of Natchez for One hundred and fifty dollars a bill on H. B. Newson for twelve 13/100 dollars a bill on Mr. Whiting for Sixty dollars A bill on Doct. Adam Calanding of Baltimore for Fifty dollars and fifty cts. and a Note drawn on the Ninth day of January A.D. 1837 by Day & Caldwell in my favor for Six hundred dollars or the proceeds of same after my Said debts be paid as aforesaid shall be given to my Mother Fanny Sackett, or in the case of the death of my Mother I desire the Said amount to be given to my Farther (sic) Menardus Sackett and in the case that my Father and Mother be both dead I direct that the Said sums shall be given to my Sister Fanny Sackett herr (sic) heirs Or assigns for her of their proper use and behoof-and I do Further more direct that when my said Executor shall have made a final and just Settlement With Excum Lewis Merchants of Natchez and Shall have collected the amount of my due from the said Lewis to me that my Said Executors Shall Specially Send on by some Safe means convey the said money to Collect from said Lewis to my friend----- Elizabeth Snyder of Franklin County Pennsylvania, And I do hereby make And Ordain James M. Knight of Rodney Mississippi Executor of this my last Will and Testament-

"He was brought up by Perez Smith of Hadley, Mass., who was married to Lovisa Noble, a cousin of his father [Luther Noble]. He removed soon after marriage, from Westfield, Mass. to Cape Vincent, NY., and d. perhaps in Detroit, Mich, while on his way alone, to visit his son in Eagle River, Mich. He was by trade a shoemaker.
He m. Jan. 7, 1819, Frances Sacket, b. in Westfield, June 27, 1798, dau. of Menardus Sacket. She d. of consumption in Newark, 0., Sept. 7, 1858, ??. 60.
