- Caroline Ames Sacket died in her 99th year at her son, C.E. Sackets home in Garden Prairie. She had been in poor health for some four or five years, and was confined to her room for many months. She was born in Vermont, in 1810. When she was 21 (1831) she moved with her parents to Ypsilanti Michigan. She was married to David H. Sacket in Saline Michigan. David was also from Colchester Vermont. In 1835 they moved to Dundee, Kane County Illinois and then in 1836 to the town of Bonus Illinois - in an area that later became Garden Prairie, Illinois. Of the 12 Ames children, only two survive her, Aaron S. of Minnesota, and Mrs. D. T. Olney, of St. Anthony, Idaho. She was a member of the Garden Prairie Congregational church since its origin in 1858.
