Marjorie Mancuso, 87, a 25 year resident of Ocala, FL and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2011 surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband, Anthony Joseph (Tony) Mancuso.

Marjorie "Billie" Mancuso was born in Huddersfield, county of Yorkshire, England in 1924 the youngest child of Frank and Ellen Yarnold Sykes. Marjorie was predeceased by her older brother, Reginald and sister Amy.

During WWII, Marjorie joined the British Royal Air Force where she trained as a nurse. It was there that she met the love of her life, Tony, who was serving in the US Army Air Corp. They married and were the parents of four loving daughters, Antonia Diane Smith (Thomas), Clinton, CT, Donna Marie (Raymond) Venditti, Austin, TX, Theresa Maria (Stanley) Witkowicz, North Haven, CT and Stephanie Jeanne (Kenneth) Pectal, Pleasant Valley, NY.

Marjorie continued her nursing career in the US as a registered nurse with Bowne Memorial Hospital caring for TB patients. Later she worked as a private duty nurse for many elderly patients with her tender loving care and compassionate ways. Her infectious smile and tender voice enabled her patients to respond positively to a have good quality of life in their final days.

When she "retired", Marjorie and Tony owned and operated Mancuso's Depot Restaurant in Bangall, New York. Soon after, they moved to Ocala, Florida where Marjorie enjoyed gardening, crafts and many activities in the sunny south. Of all her activities, Marjorie's favorite was dancing, which she loved all of her life and which gave her so much happiness. She enjoyed her tap dancing lessons and performances with the Bonnie Belles Tap Dance Troupe. She valued the friendship of Bonnie, her teacher, and all of her dance members.

Marjorie was always appreciative and thankful for the blessings given to her by God. She was a loving wife taking the excellent care of her husband and love, Tony, until his death in 1998. She loved each of her daughters in a special way, "my girls" as she called them. She was the most wonderful mother teaching them through her example and tender loving ways. Her daughters cared lovingly for Marjorie "Mom" throughout her final years giving her many happy times and memories.

Above all Marjorie loved God, her family, friends and neighbors. Many of her family and friends nicknamed her "Lovie" because of her English accent and expressions of endearment. They enjoyed every opportunity to spend time and talk with her.

Marjorie is survived by her four daughters, grandchildren Thomas Lloyd Smith, Toni Marie Smith, Jason Anthony (Renee)Pectal, Stefanie Marie (James) Collins, Anthony Joseph Witkowicz and Christina Marie Venditti, Great-Grandchildren Christopher Thomas Anthony Goss and Brittany Marie Goss. Marjorie is also survived by her loving sister-in-law Margaret E. Mancuso. In addition, nephew, Martin (Angela) Hampshire of Huddersfield, England, cousin's Betty Boulain of Portsmouth, England, Elaine McKay of Annan, Scotland and their families.

Marjorie's legacy was to enjoy each day of life that God has given you, work hard, love one another, be kind and caring, smile and always take time to dance. Marjorie had many homes in life, England, New York, and Florida. She has now gone to her final home where she will rest peacefully in the loving hands of God.

Marjorie had a lifelong love of all creatures great and small and spent much time with family pet "Roxy" and visits from "Nubby", "Callie", "Missy", "Red", "Britany", "Eclipse", "Brooke" and the newest rescues, "Lucky" and "Tink". In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie's memory to the Dutchess County SPCA or a charity of your choice.
