      Jay B. Sackett, 81, Dies at His Home Near Filer

      FILER, April 28--Jay B. Sackett, 81, died at his home on route one, Filer, at 9:30 a. m. Thursday.

      He was born Feb. 6, 1868. He married Bessie Griffin In 1910. He attended the Methodist church and was a member of the Masonic lodge, Paxton, 111. Mr. Sackett had been a buyer and seller of registered horses all his life, representing a firm in Homewood, Ill.

      In 1921 he moved to Filer where he ha resided since. He also showed horses at the county fair for years.

      His first wife preceded him in death in 1907 and two daughters preceded him in death.

      Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Bessie Griffin Sackett, Filer; four children, Raymond L. Sackett and Orvllle Sackett, both Filer; Lawrence J. Sackett, Chicago, Ill., and Fay Sackett, Paxton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Campbell, Pine Bluff, Ark.

      The body rests at the White mortuary pending funeral arrangements.

      M. Faye Sackett

      PAXTON (PNS) -- M. Faye Sackett, 90, a resident of the Illinois Knights Templar Home for more than five years and formerly of 332 W. Paxton St., died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the home.

      Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, the Rev. Harold Q. Bodeen officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery.

      Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

      She was born July 3, 1892 at Rankin, a daughter of Jay B. and Margaret A. Sheehan Sackett. She was the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Thompson, Paxton, with whom she made her home since the age of 13.

      She is survived by a half-brother, Orville Sackett, Filer, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

      She graduated from Paxton High school in 1910 and attended Illinois State University, Normal. For several years she taught school in the rural Gibson City area.

      She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Paxton Hospital Auxiliary and the Paxton Woman's Club.

      Memorials may be made to the Illinois Knights Templar Home or the United Methodist Church.
