      John Hendricks Dies Tuesday at Farm Residence Funeral Friday for Well-
      Known Farmer Who Dies at Age of 63 John A. Hendricks, 63, a resident and
      farmer of this community most of his life, died at 4:00 o?clock Tuesday
      afternoon at his home in Kirkland Township, eight miles west and one mile
      south of Decatur. Mr. Hendricks had moved there last March after living in
      Wabash Township south of Berne for many years. Death was caused by heart
      trouble, dropsy and complications. He had been seriously ill for five months
      and bedfast for several weeks.
      Mr. Hendricks was born in Wabash Township, December 14, 1879, a son of
      Joseph and Sarah Drake Hendricks. He was married to Elizabeth Topp on
      November 8, 1899. Surviving are the widow; six daughters, Mrs. Alice
      Murphy of Bryant, Mrs. Mary Affolder, Mrs. Pearl Ray and Mrs. Cora McFarland
      all of Decatur, Mrs. Josephine Hendricks of Dayton, Ohio and Sarah, at home,
      and five sons, Joe of Portland, Charles of Berne and Richard, Elmer and
      Herman, all at home. Eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also
      survive.
      A son, James, proceeded. He was killed a few years ago when he broke his
      neck while diving in the Sullivan Pit east of town. Two brothers and two
      sisters also proceeded. They are Theodore, Alfred, Mrs. Clara Gause and Mrs.
      A. J. Myers.
      The body will be returned to the home this evening from the Yager
      Mortuary. Friday morning it will be returned to the L. L. Yager Funeral Home
      on South Fulton Street where funeral services will be held at 2:00 o?clock
      Friday afternoon. Rev. Wm. Schaeffer, pastor of the Bethel Brethren Church
      will officiate and burial will be in the Studabaker Cemetery south of Berne.
      The body can be viewed at the Yager Home Friday forenoon.

      Elizabeth Hendricks Dies Last Evening - Funeral Services Monday Afternoon
      Mrs. Elizabeth Hendricks, 68, of 121 North 15th Street, died at 5:20 p.m. Friday at the Adams County Memorial Hospital, where she had been confined since suffering a fractured hip in a fall 10 days ago.
      She was born in Adams County March 1, 1882, a daughter of Hurbert and Elizabeth Topp, and was married to John A. Hendricks Nov. 8, 1899. Her husband preceded her in death March, 1942.
      Surviving are five sons, Joe of Portland, Elmer and Richard, at home, Charles of Berne and Herman of Gary: six daughters, Mrs. Alice Murphy of New Corydon, Mrs. Pearl Shaw of Tipton, Mrs. Cora McFarland of Decatur, Miss Josephine Hendricks of Dayton, Ohio, and Miss Sarah Hendricks at home. 25 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; four brothers, John Topp of Wanedale, George of Fort Wayne, Joe of Delphos, Ohio, and Alvis of Coldwater, Michigan., and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Lafontaine of Decatur, Mrs. Mary Lafontaine and Mrs. Josephine Addy of Fort Wayne.
      Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Black Funeral Home, the Rev John E. Chambers officiating. Burial will be in the Studebaker Cemetery three miles south of Berne. The body will be removed to the residence where friends may call after 4?oclock this afternoon until noon Monday, when it will be returned to the funeral home.

      Nolda Hendricks, 90, of Swiss Village in Berne died at 6:41 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007, at Adams Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker and was a co-owner of Hendricks Electric. She was born in Adams County on Jan. 19, 1917, a daughter of Glen and Elva (Scoles) Agler. She was a member of the Bethel Brethren Church. She was married in Berne on Aug. 21, 1937 to Charles Hendricks, who preceded her in death in 1981.She is survived by her son Dean (Myrna) Hendricks of Berne, her daughter Jana (David) Wynn of Berne, her siblings Noel Agler of North Fort Myers, Fla., Betty (Kenneth) Hawkins of Garrett, and Norma Sprunger of Berne, along with five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Albert, Thelma, and Donald, along with her great-granddaughter Jessica Hendricks.Calling will be on Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Yager Kirchhofer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Services are planned for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Brethren Church, with Rev. Joe Nass officiating. Burial will be in the MRE Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Bethel Brethren Church Missions Fund.
