      OBITUARY

      W. S. CANFIELD, 91, passes away (Oct. 8, 1938)

      Funeral to be held tomorrow.

      ------

      W. S. Canfield, age 91, of Union Mills, a resident of LaPorte (sic) County for 89 years, passed away at 5 p.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Craft of Kingsbury.

      Mr. Canfield had been ill for 10 months with a complication of diseases.

      He was born in Erie County, Pennsylvania, on April 22, 1847, and moved to Union Mills with his parents when he was two years old. He had resides with his daughter at Kingsbury for the past two years, moving there from Union Mills.

      Mr. Canfield was a retired farmer.

      On October 22, 1877, in Noble Township, he married Olive Davis.

      He is survived by two sons, Ed Canfield and Richard Canfield, of LaPorte; one daughter, Mrs. John Craft of Kingsbury; seven grandchildren, tow great-grandchildren and one sister, Maggie Carpenter. One grandson preceded him in death.

      Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the daughter's home in Kingsbury. The Rev. W.E. Clarke will officiate, and burial will be in the Union Mills cemetery with Kosanke Brothers of Union Mills in charge.

      Mr. Canfield was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Union Mills.
