Dr. Nabers Officiates At Wedding
Dr. Charles H. Nabers, pastor of First Presbyterian church, this city, officiated at the marriage of Miss Margaret Clyde Sackett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Sacwett (sic), of Spartanburg and Lieut. Robert Barnes Engley, of Stafford Springs, Conn., at the First Presbyterian church of Spartanburg, last Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock.
A program of wedding music was given by Mrs. B. I. Blackwell, organist, Mrs. Byrd Austell McIntyre and Simpson Cannon, soloists; The traditional wedding march was used.
Lieut. Engley's father, Frank B. Englcy, of Stafford Springs, was best man, Ushers were Frank Feilder and Charles Evans.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding gown of white silk jersey, made on princess lines, with a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves ending in points at the wrists. The skirt ended in a short train. Her veil of bridal illusion was caught to the sides of her head by tuberoses. She carried a white prayerbook with a spray of tuberoses and lilies of the valley.
Following the ceremony, an informal reccption was held in the church oourt, with the bridal party and parents of the couple receiving.
Lieut. and Miss Engley have left by train for a wedding trip to New York and Btafford Springs. For traveling the bride will wear a suit of green, with brown accessories.
The bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Engley, came to Spartanburg from Stafford Springs, Conn., for the ceremony.
Lieut. Engley completed his officer's training st Fort Benning last week, receiving his commission at that time. He will be stationed in California.
