Mrs. Henrietta Rogers Succumbs After Illness
The death of Mrs. H. C. Rogers on Sept. 27 was briefly reported in The Express last Thursday. Mrs. Rogers had passed her eighty fifth birthday.
The following obituary was read at the funeral service conducted by Rev. B. H. Ward.
Henrietta Clarrissa Croffoot was the oldest daughter of Homer and Clarrissa Croffoot. She was born in Plainville, Lake county, on April 21, 1848.
She moved with her parents when two years of age to Green county, Wisconsin, and lived there until 15 years of age. Then with her parents she moved to Jo Daviess county, Illinois. There she resided until she was married on Aug. 14, 1870 to Duane Rogers.
In the year of 1871 they came to Jewell county, Kansas, where she resided until her children were grown. In the year 1911, moved to Nuckolls county, Nebraska, to make her home with her eldest son Rodney. And after his passing she made her home among the remainder of her children.
To this union, were born 14 children, of whom 8 grew to be men and women. George died at the age of 26. Rodney died 4 years ago last April. The living are; Mrs. Emma Jantzen, Superior; Mrs. Ella George, Martin, S.D.; Edgar Rogers, Madison, Kan.; Mrs. Hattie Pettis, Watonga, John Rogers, Superior; Mrs. Lena Bedford, Chappell, Nebr.
Twenty-three grand children and eight great grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters also survive.
She gave her heart to Christ when 19 years of age and has lived a Christian life through the years.
Mrs. Rogers died Sept. 27, 1933 at the home of her daughter in Superior, Mrs. George Jantzen. Services were held at the Baptist church with Rev. B. H. in charge. Burial was made at Shaffer cemetery, southwest of Superior.

OBITUARY
Duane Aurilian Rogers was born in Stephenson County, Ill., Sept. 18, 1850, died Sept. 26, 1924, age 74 years and 8 days.
August 14, 1870 he was married to Henrietta Clarissa Croffoot, The following year they joined their fate with the rush for homes in the Great West and in August they settled on a farm in Jewell County Kansas, where they lived until they came to Mount Clare, Nebraska. To this union were born 14 children, seven of whom preceded him to the Great Beyond. He is survived by his wife and Rodney Rogers of Mount Clare, Nebr. with whom he made his home the last few years, Ella George of Manville, Wyo., Emma Wright of Superior, Nobr., Hattie Pettis of Watonga, Okla, Edgar Rogers of Hope, Kans., John Rogers of Superior, Neb., Lena Thorlton of Alliance, Nebr., and 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was a devoted, husband and affectionate father, a true friend and a good citizen. Whet more could be asked?
