Nelson W. Jones, and old resident of this city and for many years one of its active business men, died Friday evening at his home on Shelbourne raid, following a long period of ill health, during the last few weeks of which he was confined to his bed.

Mr. Jones was born 67 years ago in Chesterfield, N.Y., and while living in New York he married Miss Amanda Carpenter, who survives him. Over 40 years ago he came to Burlington with his brothers, the late Byron Jones and Albert E. Jones of North avenue. he was employed for a time by Weston-Jones Brothers company, dealers in groceries, and was later made a member of the firm of Jones Brothers. For many years he conducted the store on College street, but seven years ago went into the truck farming business in which he was engaged at the time of his death.

He leaves besides his brother and wife, three sisters and five children. His sisters are Mrs. Emiline Babbitt and Mrs. H. Hinkley of South Pasadena, Cal., and Mrs. Milford Lee of East Chatham, N.Y. The children are B. Jones of Havana, Cuba, Mrs. Vassar Soule of El Paso, Texas, and Mrs. Edna Raymond and Ralph Jones of this city.

Mr. Jones was not a member of any societies but was a man of retired habits. He was a man of the strictest integrity, and will be missed by a large number who knew him in a business and social way.
