Funeral for Mrs. Sackett on Friday
Funeral services fur Ethel Sackett, 89, who came to Los Gatos in 1912 to teach at Los Gatos Seventh Day Adventist Church School and became a member of a prominent pioneer family, will be held at 1:00 Friday from the Place Funeral Home followed by interment in Los Gatos Cemetery.
Friends may contribute in her memory to the Seventh Day Adventist Church School building fund through Los Gatos SDA on Broadway.
Mrs. Sackett died unexpectedly Moday (sic) at home, 412 University Ave.
A native of West Charleston, Vt., she came to Los Gatos in 1912 to teach school and on June 24, 1913, married Jesse Sackett, whose parents came here in the middle fo (sic) the last century and homesteaded a piece of property known now as the Sackett tract bounded roughly by Roberts Rd. and University Ave. and Los Gatos Creek and Santa Cruz Ave.
The original Sackett home stood in what would now he the middle of University Ave., one of the numerous streets of the area dedicated 1o the town.
Mrs. Sackett was a charter member of Los Gatos Seventh Day Adventist Church, was active in the local Christian Temperance Union and was an influential figure in many church youth groups.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 11 children, Mrs. Velma Moniot and Mrs Madeleine Duncan, both of Los Gatos; Mrs. Wilma Goode of Artoes; Allen Sackett of Mankata, Minn; Miss Florence Sackett of Montevideo, Uruguay, S.A.; Miss Margaret Sackett or La Sierra; Robert Sackett of Napa; Mrs. Reta Forrester of Cupertino; Mrs. Lenora Chenault of Daly City; Ronald Saekett of Santa Cruz and Harry Brumes Saekett of College Plaee, Wash; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Beach of Oakland and Mrs. Fred Bortzmeyer of San Francisco and 12 grandchildren.
