Alice Eaton Sackett died peacefully at her home in San Antonio on August 3, 2016. She was 95 years and 11 months old.

Alice was born on August 26, 1920 in Toledo Ohio and grew up in Northville, Michigan, having moved there at a very young age. She liked to tell people it was the day women received the right to vote in the US. Her parents were Levi and Alice M. Eaton.

On May 4, 1942 Alice married Roger W. Sackett. They shared 70 wonderful years of marriage and raised 3 children.

Alice completed her Bachelor's degree from Incarnate Word College and Master's degree in Library Science from Our Lady of the Lake University attending school part time while raising her children. She worked as Librarian for the Ft. Sam Houston Schools until retiring. She worked at the Institute of Texan Cultures, cataloguing the early San Antonio Light historical photos. That was a position she held into her mid 80s.

Alice and Roger traveled extensively throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand. They enjoyed canoeing with the Sierra Club and camping with family and friends.

Alice is survived by her two sons, David (Josh) Sackett and wife Neva of Floresville, TX, and Jeff Sackett and wife Jill, of England, and son-in-law Steve Baker of Corpus Christi, TX; four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger and their daughter Jancy Baker of Corpus Christi, TX.

A memorial service will be held in November at a date to be determined.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the Encompass Hospice, 14800 San Pedro Avenue, Suite 216, San Antonio, TX 78232, Northwood Presbyterian Church (San Antonio), the Alzheimer's foundation or a charity of your choice.
