In his early life Charles seems to have been unstable as a husband and father. According to different family sources he is said to have abandoned his first wife, Alice Armstreet, while she was still bed ridden following the birth of their third child. Alice subsequently divorced him and raised the three boys using her maiden name, Hancock.

In the same year that the divorce from Alice was final (1913), Charles married Mrs. Mary (Mullins) King. Mary was twice widowed and had a daughter, Leo King by her first husband. Following the birth of their first child, Eddie Lee Sackett, Charles abandoned Mary and her children.

In 1915 he married Kate Armstreet. They had four children.

Charles married Armstreet, Frances Arcadia on 18 Nov 1915 in Little River County, Arkansas, USA. Frances (daughter of Armstreet, Port Arthur and Brooks, Lorena) was born in Nov 1898 in Joaquin, Shelby County, Texas, USA; died on 7 Apr 1972 in Winthrop, Little River County, Arkansas, USA; was buried in Campground Cemetery, Winthrop, Little River County, Arkansas, USA. 2. 3.  Armstreet, Frances ArcadiaArmstreet, Frances Arcadia was born in Nov 1898 in Joaquin, Shelby County, Texas, USA (daughter of Armstreet, Port Arthur and Brooks, Lorena); died on 7 Apr 1972 in Winthrop, Little River County, Arkansas, USA; was buried in Campground Cemetery, Winthrop, Little River County, Arkansas, USA.

    Notes:

    Different surnames for Kate:
1). LDS Pedigree file has her name as Frances Arcadia "Kate" Armstreet.
2). The Affidavit for the license has her name as Mrs. Kate Wilkerson, age 19 while
Marriage license has her name as Miss Kate Wilkerson, age 19 and the Certificate of Marriage has her name as Miss Kate Wilkerson. However, the 1920 Census for the household of Charlie S. Sackett and Kate Sackett has Arthur P. Armstreet, age 66, listed as Father-in-law to the head of household.. The 1910 census for the household of Arthur P. Armstreet, widow, age 53, has a daughter, Arcadia, age 11 listed and the 1900 census for the household of Arthur Armstreet, age 40, b. ag 1850 has a daughter, Francis A., born Nov, 1898, age 1
3). Kate Armstreet Wilkerson. Although I have been unable to find a Armstreet - Wilkerson marriage record, it appears that Kate had a short marriage to a Wilkerson prior to her marriage to Charlie Sackett.

Lorena is buried in a cemetery which located on the private property of Bill Spruiell in the Joaquin vicinity. It is said that the cemetery was once a large family cemetery which had wooden and marble/concrete markers. In the 1930's or 1940's, it is said that a fire destroyed all wooden markers and that later all other markers were destroyed by logging.

    ------
As with so much of our research; it involves working back from a known individual at a given time. We know that Samuel Sackett and his wife Julia A. (Heath) Sackett were in Adams Co., IN in the 1840 and 1850 censuses. BLM land records show that at the Land Office at Fort Wayne, IN; on 2 November 1837 Samuel Sackett, of Green County, OH purchased the SE 1/4 of Sec 19; Twp 26; N Range 15E containing 160 acres [Certificate 15,473] filed on 19 Oct 1836. The Indiana marriage records that Samuel Sacket married Julia Ann Heath on 28 Mar 1837 in Adams Co., IN.

One clue in my quest for the ancestry of Julia Ann Heath came in the form of an excerpt from the history of Adams Co., IN posted by Dick Heller to the HEATH-L@rootsweb.com:
E.A. Godard was associated with the little town of Pleasant Mills, which is about 6 miles east of Decatur, between Decatur and the Ohio State Line. Adams County is just below Fort Wayne; it consists of 12 townships; each is six miles from north to south, and the center four are square, six by six. But the eight townships on the "outsides" of the county are only four miles wide. This includes St. Marys Township, 4 by 6, which lies east of Washington township, and the county seat, Decatur, which is in the north part of Washington township. The St. Mary's River flows northwest, from ner Celina in Ohio, to Fort Wayne, where it joins another river, and forms the Maumee, which flows east to Lake Erie, and thus through the Great Lakes east to the Atlantic.

Pleasant Mills is located mostly on the south side of the St. Mary's, which flows from east to west through the town. St. Mary's Township is the second oldest township, after Root; it was formed in 1835, when Adams was still atached to Allen County, by the Adams County Commissioners. From page 592 of my history:
"Pleasant Mills was platted September 8, 1846; it received two votes for county seat in the 1851 election that confirmed Decatur with that honor. E.A. Goddard, who owned the mill and factory, and George W. Heath laid out the town with 30 66-by- 132-foot lots. Dec. 27, 1850 and addition of 32 lots was made by the same gentlemen. In 1853 the post office was established, and still exists...."
    From page 595:
"On January 29, 1856 Ebenezer and Hannah Goddard sold their mill property consisting of a flouring mill, a woolen factory, and two sawmills, situated on the St. Mary's river, Lot 29, of Pleasant Mills, from Washington to Main Street, (the old plank road, now US 33) to Alexander Eicher...."

This quote places a George W. Heath in Adams Co., IN in 1850. I did a search of the 1850 census for Adams Co., IN and came up with:
    Heath, George
Year: 1850; State: Indiana; County: Adams; Township: Pleasant Mills
    Roll: M432_135 Page: 77 Image: 155
Heath, George 33 m merchant OH

    Heath, John W. 4 m IN
    Heath, Delia 2 f IN

    Godard, E. A. 47 m farmer PA
    [Godard], Hannah 41 f OH
    Godard, John 20 m OH
    (plus younger children)

This led to a search of the 1840 census for Adams Co., IN which gave me:
    Sacket, Samuel
Year: 1840; State: IN; County: Adams; Township: Blue Creek
    Roll: M704_74 Page: 10

    Census: 200 010 000 000 0 - 221 001 000 000 0
[I found that ancestry.com's index has William Heath, Jr age 20-30 (b. 1810-1820) listed as William Heath, Sr. But an examination of the image of the page shows that it should be "Jr"]

This seems to indicate that George Heath (age 20-30) is probably a son of William Heath, Sen. (age 60-70) and therefore a brother to William Heath, Jr. (age 20-30).
    ----------------------
A search of the 1830 census shows no Heaths in Adams Co., IN at that time. However, they are found along with two of our Sacketts in Mercer Co., OH:

My conclusion is that William Heath, Sr. (b. 1770-1780) was the father of Julia Ann Heath, the wife of 12594-Samuel Sackett. It appears that William Heath, Sr. died between 1840 and 1850 in Mercer Co., OH, or Adams Co., IN. Any estate papers will probably be found on one of these counties. The census information suggests that three of William's sons were William, Jr (b. 1810-1820), George W. (b. abt 1817), and James C. (b. abt 1809) -[25 Feb 2003 by Thurmon King]
