Richard J. Decker, 92, of Indian River, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from Tender-care in Cheboygan.
Dick was born in Detroit on March 29, 1921 to Arthur and Loretta (Nemoth) Decker. He joined the U. S. Army and served in the European Theater during World War II as a sergeant. Dick retired from the G.M. Parts Fabrication Plant in Warren after many years and moved to Indian River. He was an avid golfer and member of the Indian River Golf Club. He also enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Dick follows into eternal life his wife, Nadine (Draper); his sister, Betty; daughter, Pamela; granddaughter, Jamie; niece, Jill; and his first wife, Marie (Graebert), with whom he raised two sons and a daughter, Michael, David and Pamela.
He will be missed by his sons, Mike Decker of Shelby Township and Dave (Sandy) Decker of Clarkston; step-daughter, Kathy (John) Coon of Clio; grandchildren, Bob (Dr. Lori) Dillard of Macomb County, Erin Decker of Shelby Township and Chris (Sarah) Decker; great-grandchildren, David, Olivia and Sophia of Waterford, Michelle (James) Starkey, Stacey (Cody) Szemites and Renae (Dave) Ray; and great-great grandchildren, Blake and Hunter Szemites and Katheryn Starkey.
There are no services or visitation planned at this time.
