FATHER DIES IN IOWA
MILLERSBURG -- Max Groesbeck and his sisters, Mrs. Gloria Jean Snow and Mrs. Myrtle Spittler, Portland, returned home Monday from Harlan, Ia., where they had been to attend the funeral of their father, Allen Groesbeck, who died suddenly last week. This was the first time the family of eight children had been together in 20 years.

Relatives Visit At Groesbeck Home
SOUTH CORVALLIS (Special)-- Two sisters of Max Groesbeck and their families have been visiting at the Groesbeck home. They are Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Spittler of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Snow and their children, Ruth Ann, Phillip, and Wayne of Tacoma, Washington. Weekend visitors of the Groesbecks included Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chrisman of Albany, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Brooks, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Groesbeck and Linda and Diane of Albany. Groesbeck is now able to walk some and is showing improvement after having suffered a stoke last June.

Groesbeck rites pending
CHEYENNE -- Services are pending for former Laramie County Treasurer Paul W. Groesbeck, who died Sunday.
Groesbeck, 73, who served as county treasurer from 1962 until 1967, died in his birthplace, Harlan, Iowa, while visiting relatives there.
A long-time employee of the Union Pacific Railroad from 1926 until 1962, Groesbeck also had long been active in the Republican Party, serving as Laramie County Republican chairman from 1950 until 1954.
A resident of Cheyenne since 1926, he had been active as a volunteer in the American Cancer Society, serving as county campaign chairman in 1964. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of Cheyenne Lodge No. 1, AF and AM, Wyoming Consistory No. 1, Mizpah Chapter No. 36, Order of Eastern Star and the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, on Sept. 12, 1974. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jackson Kay Lewis, of Cheyenne; a brother, Charles T. Groesbeck of Fort Worth, Texas, and five sisters, Juanada Guldager of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Myrtle Spittler of Anchorage, Alaska; Gloria Gene Snow of Seattle, Wash.; Alleta Graham, Davenport, Iowa and Mrs. Harold Iverson, Cheyenne.
Other survivors include three grandchildren.

Lydia Thomas, daughter of Absolem and Lucinda Thomas, was born in Indiana on March 28, 1878. She died at Cedar Falls March 29, 1956, having reached the age of 78 years and one day.
She was united in marriage to Allen Groesbeck January 4, 1899 at Kirkman, Iowa. They made their home in Kirkman and later in Harlan. Nine children were born to this union; one daughter, Allena died in infancy. Mr Groesbeck died November 14, 1947. Since that time she had made her home with her children. This past winter she made her home in Cedar Falls with her daughter, Juanada.
Surviving are five daugters, Mrs Juanada Guildager of Cedar Falls; Mrs Ruth Iversen of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Mrs Myrtle Spittler of Anchorage, Alaska; Mrs Alleta Graham of Davenport; and Mrs Gloria Gene Snow of Kenwick, Washington; three sons, Paul Groesbeck of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Max Groesbeck of Corvallis, Oregon and Charles of Fort Worth, Texas.
Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs Mae Sunderland of Harlan.
Funeral services were held at the Bethany Lutheran church at West Branch with the Rev. Dolliver Thogerson, brother of Mrs Max Groesbeck in charge. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery in Kirkman. Pauley's funeral home was in charge.
