WIDOW OF W. J. SPEARANCE DIES
Mannsville, Dec. 10.--Mrs. Mabel Minnie Sackett Spearance, 58, widow of William J. Spearance, died at 1:35 a.m. yesterday at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she was admitted at 4:10 p.m. Saturday. She had been in fair health until about a week ago when she developed pneumonia which caused her death.
She had made her home with her son, John, Mannsville, R.D. 2, Route 3, near Renshaw Bay.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the Piddock funeral home, Adams, with Rev. Frank E. Morey, pastor of the Manssville Methodist church, officiating.
The body will be placed in the vault for burial in the spring in Maplewood cemetery here. Friends may call tomorrow from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include eleven children: Five daughters, Mrs. Clark (Cora) Brown, Watertown R.D. 2; Mrs. Albert (Eleanor) Lawrence and Mrs. Lloyd (Genevieve) Killenback, Adams Center R.D. 1; Mrs. Andrew (Dorothy) Hirst, Watertown R.D. 1; Mrs. Bernard (Mable) Ryan, 624 Academy street, Watertown; six sons: John, Mannsville RD. 2; Glen Gardiner, N.J.; Lawrence, Adams Center R.D. 1; Donald, Mack avenue, Pulaski; Edward, Adams Center, and Harvey, Adams Center, now serving in Korea; a brother, Porter Sackett, Watertown, and 22 grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Michael (Frances) Virkler, of Lowville, died Nov. 2.
Mrs. Spearance was born March 2, 1898, at Altmar, daughter of Gideon and Minnie Sackett. She worked as a cook in various hotels before and after her marriage. She was married to William J. Spearance in June, 1921, in Ogdensburg. They lived in Ogdensburg and then the Potsdam area a few years while they operated farms. The moved to the town of Rodman in 1929, Mr Spearance died May 23, 1948.

Funeral Today for Lawrence E. Spearance
ADAMS CENTER--The funeral for Lawrence E. Spearance, 60, South Harbor Road, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams. Spring burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Mr. Spearance died Thursday morning at his home.
Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Jefferson County, P.O. Box 677, Watertown, 13601.
Surviving are his wife, Alice; two sons, Lawrence A., Newport, R.I., and Patrick G. Brown, Carthage; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Elaine) Aldrous, Raquette Lake; four grandchildren; five brothers, Harvey, Hemmingford, Neb., John and Phillip "Edward," both of Sandy Creek, Donald, Altmar, and Earl, Adams Center; five sisters, Mrs. Mabel Finley, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Eleanor Lawrence, LaFargeville, Mrs. Clark (Cora) Brown, Texas, Mrs. Lloyd (Genevieve) Killenbeck, Pierrepont Manor, and Mrs. Andrew (Dorothy) Hirst, Exeter, N.H., and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Lisbon on May 17, 1926, a son of William and Mabel Sackett Spearance, he was educated in local schools and served with the Navy in World War II.
He married Alice Greene on July 24, 1950, at Green Settlement.
The couple spent most of their life at Adams Center, where Mr. Spearance worked for the New York central Railroad and United Milk and Queens Farms for several years. For the past 20 years, he had been employed at Robbins Farms Supply in Adams center and Adams.
He was a member of the Adams Center Volunteer Fire Department.

Ex-Belleville Woman Cora Brown, 66, Dies
Cora E. Brown, 66, Kerrville, Texas, foormerly of Belleville, died at 11:15 p.m. Jan. 17 in Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, Kerrville.
Arrangements were made with the Kerrville Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Surviving are her husband, Clark W.; three daughters, Mrs. David (Dawn) Blackwell, Shelbyville, Ill., Mrs. Lloyd (Cherie) Potter, Jr., Hobe Sound, Fla., and Genevieve Brown, Sanford, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Genevieve Killenbeck, Pierrepont Manor, Dorothy Hirst, Exeter, N.H., and Eleanor and Mabel, addresses unknown, and five brothers, John Spearance, Sandy Creek, Donald Spearance, Altmar, Edward Spearance, Pulaski, Harvey Spearance, South Dakota, and Earl Spearance, New Jersey.
A brother, Lawrence Spearance, died before her.
Born in Ogdensburg, a daughter of William John and Mabel Sackett Spearance, she married Clark W. Brown in July 1939.
Mrs. Brown worked at the Mannsville Nursing Home for a time.
