Claudette Sackett
Claudette Sackett, age 65, of 103 N. Chestnut, Mendon, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at 1:30 pm in her home.
Claudette was born May 15, 1947 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of David and Evelyn Niece Belknap She married George Rodney Sackett on January 13, 1976 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2006.
Claudette was a graduate of Quincy University. She taught elementary school in Quincy public schools and served as the activity director for the Illinois Veterans Home for a number of years. She knew entirely too much about music and enjoyed playing the violin and the piano.
Survivors include: her son, George Sackett of Mendon, IL; and three grandchildren: Clara Sackett-Swackhammer of Iowa; Hannah Sackett of Quincy; and Caleb Sackett of Mendon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Services: 11:00 am Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alvin Laird officiating.

George Rodney Sackett, age 71, of 103 Chestnut, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 8:05 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
George R. Sackett | Hansen-Spear Funeral Home ? Quincy, IllinoisHe was born December 11, 1934 in New Salem, Illinois the son of Robert and Mary Isabelle Carnes Sackett. On January 13, 1976 he married Claudette Belknap in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.
Mr. Sackett served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 until 1964. After his military service he founded Sackett Roofing Company in 1968, which he currently owned and operated.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons: Gordon Sackett; George Lynn Sackett; and George David Sackett of Mendon, IL; one daughter, Mary Margaret Sackett of Brussels, Belgium; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two cousins: Phil Carnes of Greenfield, IL; and Roger Carnes of East Alton, IL. He was preceded in death by his his parents
Services will be Monday, December 4, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin Laird officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 3 from 3-6 p.m. Memorials made to Salvation Army in his name would be appreciated.
