Elmer Sackett
Pekin -- Charles Elmer Sackett, 79, formerly of 1404 S. 14th St., passed away at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Dec 23, 2007 at the home of his niece, 606 E. Fourth St., Delavan.
Born April 15, 1928, in Delavan to Jessie Elmer and Laura Edith Parkins Sackett, he married Velda Ruth Lock on Oct. 5, 1946, in Pekin. She died March 13, 2004, in Pekin.
He also was preceded in death by two sons, Gail D. Sackett on July 27, 1993 in Peoria, and Robert Lee Sackett on Oct. 15, 1996 in Pekin.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Jane (Mike) Roose of Mansfield, Ohio; four grand children, Bradley D. Sackett, Danny E. (RaNae) Sackett and Shannon J. Force, all of Peking, and Shawn O. (Micky) Mandrell of Delavan; and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves his niece, Barb Miggs, with whom he made his home.
Sackett worked as a millwright in Illinois and Wisconsin for 17 years, retiring in 1992.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a life member of Roy L. King Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 1232 in Pekin.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. he also was an avid bowler. He loved his great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Fueral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Steven M. Rowell Sr. and the Rev. Lloyd Bradshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Jesse E. Sackett
Pekin --(PNS)-- Jesse E. Sackett, 72. a former Delavan farmer, died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday at the Tazewell County Nursing Home, where he had resided eight years.
He had been in failing health several years.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kuecks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Manito.
He was born Oct. 25, 1889, at Detroit, I11, a son of Charles and Ellen Emery Sackett. He married Laura E. Parkins Aug. 15, 1914, at Havana.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Wheat, San Jose; Mrs. Minnie Mangold, Quaqueton, Iowa; Mrs. Myra Fleming, Kenosha, Wis., and Mrs. Jessie Lay, Delavan; three sons, Harold, Morton; Glenn, Salinas, Calif., and Charles E., Pekin; three sisters, Miss Minnie Sackett, Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Lula Fox, Delavan, and Mrs. Pearl Bear, Parmalee, S. Dak.; 35 garndchildren (sic) and 11 great grandcildren.
A brother preceded him in death. He was a member of the Delavan Baptist Church.

Mary L. Wheat
SAN JOSE--Mary L. (Sackett) Wheat, 82, of San Jose, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 4, 1998) at Hopedale Medical Complex, Hopedale.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christian Church, the Rev. Paul Odom and the Rev. Allen Payne officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, San Jose. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Styninger Funeral Home, San Jose.
Mrs. Wheat was born Sept 4, 1915, in Manito, a daughter of Jesse and Laura Parkin Sackett She married Lester Harold Wheat Jan. 27, 1935, in Pekin. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include six sons, Larry Wheat Newport Minn., David Wheat, Manito, Danny Wheat Lincoln, James Wheat, Mackinaw, William Wheat, Topeka, and Steve Wheat, Fulton; three daughters, Louise Miller, Armington, Jeane Newlin and Susan Evans, both of Tremont two brothers, Harold Sackett, Morton, and Elmer Sackett, Pekin; one sister, Jessie Lay, Delavan; 37 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter and one grandson.

Harold A. Sackett
MORTON--The funeral of Harold A. Sackett, 76, of 213 S. Fourth Ave., Morton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Davis Mortuary, Hopedale, the Rev. Steve Rowell officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery, Delavan, with military rites conducted by Delavan American Legion Post 382. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
He died at 12:55 p.m. Friday (March 24, 2000) in the emergency room at Hopedale Hospital.
Memorials may be made to Transport for Christ, P.O. Box 303, Denver, PA 17517-0303.
Mr. Sackett was born Oct. 31, 1923, at Manito, the son of Jesse and Laura Parkins Sackett. He first married Georgia Nelson June 15, 1946. He later married Patricia Shannon on Sept. 12, 1958, at Creve Coeur. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jess (Claudia) Sackett, Callaway, Fla., and James "Rick" (Cindi) Sackett, Pekin; four daughters, Bonnie (Jack) Martin, Beardstown; Jacqueline Wyant, Bloomington; Tammy Sackett, Mason City; and Lori (Terry) Ray, Pekin; one brother, Elmer Sackett, Pekin; one sister, Jessie (Richard) Lay, Delavan; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, one brother and three sisters.
He was employed by Schmidgall Trucking Co. in Morton for 20 years and worked part time for Morton Supplies in Morton until he retired.
He was a United State Marine Corps veteran, serving with the 2nd Division in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Perkin. He was a member of the Pekin AMVETS and Delevan American Legion Post 382.
