Andrew Hale Dies Suddenly
Former Secretary and Treasurer of Local Lumber Company
Andrew J. Hale, 72, connected with the Goff Lumber Company for nearly SO years and an active member of the Masonic bodies, died suddenly yesterday of a heart attack at his summer home, Nuangola. Mr. Hale resided at 114 Charles Street, city.
Mr. Hale was born at Yatesvllle, his parents being among the prominent residents of that section. He was graduated from the Pittston High School, the Wyoming Seminary and Woods Business College.
Forty-eight years ago he started as a bookkeeper for the Goff Lumber Company of this city and on his retirement three years ago was secretary-treasurer of that firm. He held a 50-year past master's jewell in the Masonic fraternity. He was a member of Central Methodist Church, city; Gahoroto Lodge, Odd Fellows, Pittston; Lodge 442, Free and Accepted Masons, Knights Templar, and Irem Temple.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Evelena Barnes Hale; son, Theodore Hale, of New York, and two daughters, Mrs. Richard L. Evans of Corning, N. Y., and Mrs. Donald Trethaway of Wilkes-Barre. Three grandchildren survive. Arrangements by Luther M. Kniffen.
