After the death of her husband, Mrs. Peake worked for the Julius Kayser Company in its Walton silk mill until it closed. For several years after that she worked as a waitress-cook in the restaurant of the late Peter Pappas. Later she was employed 20 years by Delaware Telephone Company as an operator, working during the period when the firm changed from ''crank phones" to the dial system. Through her courtesy and endeavors to assist those making long distance calls, she became known by her voice to many Waltonians. She had attended the United Methodist Church of Walton and was a member of the Lutheran Church. (Source: The Walton Reporter, May 17, 1989 issue, page 13)
