Catherine Sackett Manley, 1867-1894
I know my mother only by pictures and what people have told me
about her. By all accounts she was a beartiful and lovely person. Father
called her "Kittie: and loved her dearly.
The home of the Sacketts was at West Irving. There is a printed volume
tracing the Sackett genealogy ("Sacketts of America," by Charles M.
Weygant, pub. at Newburgh 1907) and a picture of my great grandfather,
Judge Niram Sackett, in Young's "History of Chautauqua County."
Father and Mother had their home at Smith Mills and later at
Gowanda. They are buried at Hanover Center, about mid way between
the various places associated with their separate early lives and their life
together.
