      Tucker Genealogy by T. S. Morris (p. 170):
      WILLIAM SNYDER, son of Hendrick1 and Catrina* (
      Hoffman) Snyder, was born in Clarkstown, Orange County, N. Y.,
      Nov. 9, 1749; baptized February 21, 1750.
      He married Ann4 Stringham (James3, Samuel*, Peter1,) [
      a daughter of Col. James3 and Deborah* (Sackett) String-
      ham] who was born in 1753. She was a woman of great
      strength of character, of very commanding presence, and
      a woman without fear.
      Prior to the Revolution William Snyder submitted to
      the test of the General Association, but between 1779 and
      1781 his property in New York State was confiscated and
      sold.
      He was a Loyalist, and removed to Shelburne, N. S. ,
      during the Revolutionary War. He built the first church
      in Shelburne, N. S., which was destroyed by fire about
      1880, and since rebuilt.
      He was a member of Hiram Lodge, No. 10, A. F. & A. M. ,
      in Shelburne, N. S., on Nov. 12, 1799.
      He died in Shelburne, N. S., July I, 1806, at 5:30
      p. M., aged 55 years, 7 months and 22 days. She died in
      Shelburne, N. S., Aug. 22, 1840, aged 87 years.
