      WILTON; III. - EARLY SETTLEMENT.
      Walter Doe kept a store very early at Emerson's Corners. He afterwards removed to what is now Wiltonville, and was in trade there for many years. Widely known in his business, the place has been occasionally called Doe's Corners, though lately acquiring the name of Wiltonville.

      WILTON VILLAGE, better known as DOE'S CORNERS, is the largest and most important business place.
