      Donald Holman McLean (March 18, 1884, Paterson, New Jersey ? August 19, 1975, Burlington, Vermont) was an American Republican Party politician who represented New Jersey's 6th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1933 to 1945.

      Born in Paterson, New Jersey on March 18, 1884, McLean attended the city's public schools. He graduated from the law department of George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1906, where he had been a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. McLean served as a page in the United States Senate[1] from 1897?1902 and was secretary to U.S. Senator John Kean from 1902-1911. McLean was admitted to the bar in 1909 and commenced practice in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was special master in chancery of New Jersey and supreme court commissioner of New Jersey, and served as the assistant prosecutor of the pleas of Union County, New Jersey from 1918-1923.

      McLean was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-third and to the five succeeding Congresses, serving in office from March 4, 1933 ? January 3, 1945. He was not a candidate for reelection in 1944 to the Seventy-ninth Congress

      After leaving Congress, he served as prosecutor of the pleas of Union County from June 24, 1945, to April 18, 1946, when he was appointed judge of the New Jersey Court of Errors and Appeals, the state's highest court under the 1844 Constitution of New Jersey. He became judge of New Jersey Superior Court under reorganization of New Jersey judiciary in September 1948 resulting from implementation of the 1947 Constitution. He was reappointed in April 1952 and retired on his 70th birthday on March 18, 1954, under age requirement and returned to practicing law, retiring in 1968.

      McLean resided in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He died in Burlington, Vermont on August 19, 1975. His remains were cremated, and his ashes interred in Vail Memorial Cemetery, Parsippany, New Jersey.

      BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP)- Former Rep. Donald McLean of Elizabeth, N.J., died here Tuesday at the age of 91 after a brief illness.

      McLean served six consecutive terms in the House of Representatives from New Jersey after his election In 1932. He resigned to accept an appointment as Union County prosecutor and in 1945, was named to a Judgeship on the former Court of Errors and Appeals, which subsequently became the Superior Court.

      He left the bench to resume his law practice in 1954 and retired seven years ago.

      He is survived by his widow. Memorial services will be held Friday In Elizabeth, N.J.

      Former Rep. McLean Of New Jersey Dies

      NORTH HERO - Donald R. McLean, a former member of the U.S. C6ngress, of Elizabeth, N.J., and North Hero, died at the Fanny Allen Hospital, Colchester, early Tuesday morning.

      A graduate of George Washington Law School in Washington, D.C.. he was active in law and politics until his retirement at the age of 84.

      McLean served six consecutive terms in the House of Representatives from New Jersey after his election in 1932. He resigned to accept an appointment as Union County prosecutor and in 1945, was named to a judgeship on the former Court of Errors and Appeals, which subsequently became the Superior Court.

      He left the bench to resume his law practice in 1954 and retired seven years ago.

      He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Elizabeth. N.J.. and was a founder of the Elizabeth Rotary Club. He was born in 1884 in Paterson.N J.

      He married Edna Righter in 1909; she died in 1969.

      He married Clare Bitzer in 1971.

      He leaves his wife. Clare; two sons, Donald R. McLean, president of the Lahey Clinic in Boston, and Edward R. McLean of Wilmington, Del.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

      A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Elizabeth. N.J. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

      Donald McLean dies

      BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Donald H. McLean of Elizabeth, and superior court judge, died here yesterday after a short illness. He was 91.

      McLean was born in Paterson, N.J., and was appointed a page in the U.S Senate at age 13 by then Vice President Garrett A. Hobart.

      After graduation from the Georgetown Law School, McLean opened a law practice in Elizabeth, which he maintained for more than 50 years.

      McLean served as Republican chairman of Union County and as a Republican state committeeman prior to his election to Congress in 1932. He served six consecutive terms in the House of Representatives before resigning to accept appointment as Union County prosecutor.

      In 1945, McLean was appointed to a judgeship on the former Court of Errors and Appeals, which became the Superior Court.

      in 1909, he married the former Edna Righter of Parsippany, who died in 1969. They had two sons, Donald H. Jr. of Boston and Edward R. of Wilmington, Del.

      McLean remarried in 1971 and is survived by his widow, the former Clare Bitzer of Elizabeth. He also leaves eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

      A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Trinity Episcopal Church in Elizabeth.
