      Happy Birthday!

      Harriet Ford Blough celebrated her 90th birthday on Valentine's Day, Saturday, Feb. 14.

      This "Valentine" celebrated the event with members of her family who live in the area, and it will be followed by a summer celebration when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, those in Iowa and living in other parts of the country, can attend. Harriet was born in Mystic, Iowa to John and Sarah Armstrong Ford, married married Wilbur Blough and has four children: Dr. Michael and Judith Blough, Janet and Gene Sandell, Steve and Jane Blough and Niles and Anne Blough.       He was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Waterloo, the son of Otis and Emma Hein Blough. He married Harriet Ford Aug. 21, 1940, in Waterloo.

      Mr. Blough was sales manager at Wintcrbottom Plumbing & Heating, retiring in 1982 after 41 years of employment. He served in the U.S. Army during World II.

      Survived by: his wife; three sons, Dr. Michael J. of Cedar Falls, Steven C of Waterloo and Nilcs D. of Washburn; Washburn; a daughter, Janet Dirks of Waterloo; and eight grandchildren.

      Preceded in death by: a sister, Lucile Campbell.

      Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at O'Keefe & Towne-Grarup & Waychoff Funeral Home; and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

      Memorials: to Cedar Valley Hospice, Sunrise Exchange Petting Zoo or the church.

      WATERLOO ? Harriet E. Blough, 97, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, April 6.

      She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Mystic, daughter of John and Sara Armstrong Ford. She married Wilbur F. Blough on Aug. 21, 1940, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 24, 1993.

      Harriet was employed with the YWCA for 11 years.

      Survived by: three sons, Dr. Michael (Judi) Blough of Sebring, Fla., Steven (Jane) Blough of Cedar Falls and Niles (Ann) Blough of Loganville, Ga.; a daughter, Janet (Gene) Sandell of Grundy Center; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

      Preceded in death by: a grandson, Chad Dirks, and a sister, Jean Brown.

      Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.

      Harriet Ford Is Married at Noon to Wilbur Blough

      At noon on Wednesday in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ford, 619 Falls avenue, Miss Harriet Ford was married to Wilbur Blough, son of Otis Blough, 181 Mullan avenue west, with Rev. Lew C. Harris, pastor of Central Church of Christ, officiating at the single ring ceremony.

      The bride's sister, Jean, and Wayne Roth, cousin of the groom, attended the couple. Mrs. Blough wore rust velvet, and her sister wore light blue sharkskin. Both had corsages.

      Mr. and Mrs. Ford will be hosts at a 7 o'clock reception Wednesday evening in their home to 35 guests.

      The bride is employed by the F. W. Woolworth company and the groom by the Slight pharmacy. They will be at home at 619 Falls avenue.
