Pr. Dickinson Couple Die of Asphyxiation
The article describes how Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Blake of 7 1/2 Riverview Road died in a campground near Watkins Glen. They had taken a charcoal burner into their van for the night. Their five children who had been sleeping in a tent discovered them dead the next morning.
"Mr. Blake, a modelmaker at IBM-Endicott was a member of the race communications team and was to be a flgaman at the Canadian-American road race at Watkins Glen yesterday afternoon, according to his brother-in-law, Charles Sackett, Jr."
"The Blakes have a total of eight children from previous marriages. Mrs. Blake was 35 years old."
"With them in Watkins Glen were Daniel Blake, 16, Nancy Bowman, 13, David Bowman, 12, Faith Ann Bowman, 10, and Mark Bowman, 8.
Linda Blake, 19, Linda Bowman, 17, and Penny Blake, 13, are the other three children. They were not with their parents in Watkins Glen, Mr. Sackett said."

The children were assisted by other campers and were returned to Binghamton last night by Richard D. Bowman, father of the Bowman children and the first husband of Mrs. Blake, Mr. Sackett said."

Richard D. Bowman, 54, of 60 Pennsylvania Ave., passed away suddenly Friday evening.
He is survived by five loving children, Linda A. Campana and her husband, Dennis, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Nancy Lee Denny and her husband, Robert, of Windsor; David R. Bowman of Binghamton; Faithanne Bordonaro and her husband and her husband, Chuck, of Conklin; one grandchild, Amy Lynn Bordonaro of Conklin; a loving fiance, Joyce Dutkowsky of Binghamton; one sister, Beverly Desbro and her husband, Robert, of Port Richey. Fla.; one aunt, Clara Woodruff of Binghamton, also several nieces and nephews.
He was a longtime member of the Pinwheel Bowling Leage and a loyal member of the Order of the Moose.
He was employed by A.M. Pierson for 37 years. Funeral services will be . . . . The Rev. Charles Naugle will officiate.
Burial will be in Vetsal Hills Memorial Park . . . .
