      MRS. ELIZABETH SACKETT, 75, of Hallstead, Pa., died at 2:26 a.m. today at Freeman Nursing Home, Great Bend, Pa. She is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Elna Ball of Factoryville, Pa., and Mrs. Bertha Loomis of Hallstead; one stepson, Herman Sackett of Endictott; four sisters, Mrs. Louise Rockewell, Mrs. Anna Miller, Mrs. Ethel Fowler, all of Johnson City, Mrs. Eith Hawley of Peoria, Ill.; three brothers, Albert Dawes of Nicholson, Pa., Samuel Dawes of Minooka, Pa., and James Dawes of Chenango Bridge; several nieces and nephews. The body was moved to the Tuttle Funeral Home, Hallstead, Pa., where friends may call Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon and evening.

      Illness Fatal to Byron Ball

      Byron Ball, of Lake Sherican Road, Nicholson, R.D. 2, died Sunday night at Community Medical Center East in Scranton, after an illness.

      Borne in Dunmore, June 27, 1910, a son of the late George and Amanda Batcel Ball, he had a varied background of experience. He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 12; was discharged for being under age; enlisted in the United States Navy and was again discharged for underage. He finally was accepted as an Army enlistee and served with an engineers unit attached to the Seventh Cavalry.

      In 1925, his army career completed, he was employed as a freight handler for the Lackawanna Railroad and later was a Pennsylvania Coal Co. laborer.

      He joined the Pennsylvalia National Guard in 1931 and attained the rank of sergeant, and as a civilian worked as an apprentice salseman. From 1942 to 1946, he was a captain in the department of Military Affairs and the State Guard and saw duty in the Honesdale flood.

      Mr. Ball formerly was a production manager for the Murray Corporation and at the time of his death was a manufacturer's representative for industries in the East.

      He and his wife, the former Elna Sackett, were married in 1934 and resided in Clarks Summit 12 years before moving to their present address. In 1963, the couple sought the nomination on the Republican ticket for the office of associate judge and commissioner of Wyoming County.

      Mr. Ball was a member of the Factoryville Men's Civic Club; Waverly Lodge 301, Free and Accepted Masons, Clarks Summit; Keysone Consistory, Scranton; Irem Temple, AAONMS, and Nepa Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

      Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, B. Dustan, at home; a brother, Rexford, of California, and a sister, Miss Lenora A. Ball, of Tucson, Ariz.

      A brother, Col. Walter G. Bell (sic; probably should be Ball), formerly of Dalton, died in October 1964.

      The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Willard H. Baker Funeral Home in Factoryville with the Rev. Paul Gehris, pastor of the Factoryville Church, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Woodlawn Cemetery at Factoryville. Waverly Lodge conducted Masonic services at the funeral home Tuesday evening.
