Betty remembered accompanying her father on nightly air raid lights out checks in their neighborhood in Stamford during World War II.
Betty married Al Haviland) at St. Clement's Church in Stamford, Connecticut on 30 July 1949. Betty and Al bought a newly constructed house on Barmore Drive, Stamford in 1949. In 1959 they moved to 20 Bridle Path Road, Stamford. Both Betty and Al were active in scouts with their three children. Betty and Al bough a partially finished cabin in Hampton, New York as a summer place in 1965. After retiring in 1977, Betty and Al lived in New York and Florida before settling in Manchester Center, Vermont.
Betty's sister Ann, referring to a picture of Betty: "Yes, that picture is definitely your Mother. If it was in 1938 she was in St. John's school. She went there for 8 years, then Cloonan for one year before Stamford High for the final 3 years - graduating in 1942."

James was born on July 17, 1898 in Stamford, Connecticut. James married Frances Anna Galvin on 26 January 1922 in Greenwich, Connecticut. James was 23 and Frances was 20.
On April 24, 1950 James wrote to the Bank of Ireland seeking the name of the bank that his father might have had monies deposited for him. On May 23, 1950 the Bank of Ireland replied stating there were no such funds in their bank and suggested three banks to contact. These three subsequently wrote to James also stating no such funds were in their banks.
James was a member and president of the St. Clement's Holy Name Society. He was a charter member of Local 311, Plumbers & Steamfitters (retiring as president a week prior to his death); and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
James died on February 15,1964 in Stamford, Connecticut. He was buried in St John's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Stamford.
