Abner Woodin's father, Samuel, Jr., don of Dr. Samuel Woodin, was killed with his brother Silas, July 5, 1779, by the British when they invaded New Haven. Then a lad of less than 8, Abner was sent to the city to bring home his father's horse. He spent his life on his father's farm--lying on the ridge just east of West Rock. He was a wheelwright.
