Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was former manager and vice president for Gaspro Inc., a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and Pearl Harbor survivor, and past director of KIPA, Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, Hilo Rotary Club, Kilauea Council Boy Scouts and Hawaii Island Salvation Army. No services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survived by wife, Barbara Jane "B.J." Sackett of Medford; daughters, Linda (Daryl) Smith of Volcano, Trudy (Jeff) Roley of Big Rapids, Mich.; four grandchildren.

Death Claims Retired S.L. Smelter Aide
Blair Livingston Sackett, 73, 1762 Harrison Ave. (1355 South), former general plant superintendeht and metallurgical manager International Smelting and Refining Co., subsidiary of Anaconda Co., of Tooele, died Wednesday at 5:35 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of natural causes.
Mr. Sackett graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1909 and began his professional career that year with Grandby Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co., Grand Forks B.C. He worked with Cerro de Pasco Copper Corp Peru, South America, from 1910 to 1912, when he became associated with the International Smelting and Refining Co.
HE BECAME (sic) general plant superintendent of the smelting and refining company in 1922, and metallurgical manager in 1947. He retired 1956.
Active in Red Cross work, Mr. Sackett was a member of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers; Society of the Cincinnati; a director of the Knife and Fork Club, Salt Lake City.
HE WAS (sic) president of the board of directors of the Travelers' Aid Society in 1955 and a board member from 1954 to 1960.
Mr. Sackett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He was born Sept. 16, 1886, in Jersey City, N.J., son of Clarence and Burd B. Livingston Sackett. He married Daisy Hodges March 7, 1910, in Grand Forks.
SURVIVORS include his widow, Salt Lake- City; two sons and a daughter: Earl Sackett, Potosi, Mo.; Paul Sackett, Hilo, Hawaii; Mrs. Virginia Alsop, Salt Lake City; six .grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at -2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 12 C St.

ALSOP, Virginia S., 71, of Tucson, passed away February 23, 1989. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. L Sackett, Virginia; (sic) was born in Tooele, UT where she attended school. While a student of the University of Utah, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1941 she married Farrel L. Alsop, also of Tooele. Until his retirement in Tucson in 1979, their places of residence were Kellogg, ID, New Orleans, LA and Salt Lake City, UT as he pursued his career as a metallurgical engineer. During their years in Tucson, Virginia was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgists and Petroleum Engineers. In Salt Lake City, Virginia and her husband were active members of St. James Episcopal Church and in Tucson, St Alban's Episcopal Church. Virginia is survived by her husband, Farrel; her son Paul Alsop of Auburn, CA; her daughter, Kristlne Labbe of Tucson; mother, Daisy Sackett of Tucson; two' brothers, Earl Sackett of: Littleton, CO, Paul Sackett of Medford, OR; and four! grandchildren. Services will be Friday, March 3 at St Alban's Episcopal Church, 3737 Old Sabino Canyon Road, the Rev. Charles Glaenzer officiating. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY & CHAPELS, 1040 N Columbus.

Major Paul Sackett To Take Bride On April 3rd
Announcement was made in Hilo Hawaii, in March of the engagement of Barbara Jane Eklund, to Major Paul F. Sackett U S M CR, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Sackett of this city.
Miss Eklund is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Eklund of Hilo and Honolulu. She attended private schools in Hilo and the University of Hawaii and is now with the San Francisco office of the Hawaiian Gas Products.
Major Sackett has been stationed in the South Pacific area for the past twenty months.
The marriage will take place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Sackett on Monday, April 3rd at 4 o'clock in the afternoon with the Rev. Floyd W. Barr of the First Presbyterian church of Salt Lake City performing the ceremony. Miss Ethel Gorlangton of San Francisco, California will attend Miss Eklund as maid of honor, and Mrs. Earl Sackett will act as best man for his brother.
An informal reception will be held Monday evening honoring Major Sackett and his bride.
Out-of-town relatives who will be present for the wedding are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sackett and daughter, Patricia of Holden, Washington, Mr. and Mrs Farrel Alsop and son Paul Blair of Kellogg, Idaho. Mrs. A. B. Smith of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Marion Austin of Glendale, California.
