Willard C. Sackett
NEW OXFORD Willard 'Bill' C. Sackett, 96, died peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2015, at The Brethren Home Community at Cross Keys, New Oxford. Born December 23, 1918, in Bridgewater, Va., he was the son of the late Homer N. and Bertha S. (Miller) Sackett. He was predeceased by his wife, M. Ruth (Blizzard) Sackett in 2005. He attended Western Maryland College and Juniata College. He served as district sales manager in Pennsylvania and W. NY for Wayne Feeds and Allied Mills Co. from 1940 to 1971. He attended the Jesus Messiah Evangelical Free Church in Hanover. Surviving are a son, Charles E. 'Chick' Sackett and wife Leta of Batavia, N.Y.; grandson, Jay C. Sackett of Clarence, N.Y.; granddaughter, Erica S. (Sackett) Pyper of Hartfield, England; sister-in-law, Marilee Sackett of New Oxford. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by infant son, Robert C. Sackett and brother, Charles M. Sackett. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 9 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 10 a.m. at the Nicarry Meetinghouse on the campus of The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA, with Pastor Art Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800; or the Good Samaritan Fund at the Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
