Weldon Hubert Briggs (son of Artemas and Daisy Curtis Briggs) was born in Assyria Center on December 18, 1912 in a large farm house. known as the Chapin, Briggs and which was located on the first farm south of Ellis Corners on the east side of the road, and what is now a gravel company. Weldon attended Ellis, Assyria Center and Briggs schools. In 1928 he moved with his parents to Battle Creek. He married Ruth V. Sacket (born March 19, 1910) in September 1934. Weldon and Ruth Briggs have three children.
1. Ronald L. Briggs, born in Battle Creek September 1935.
2. Richard Weldon Briggs born in Battle Creek April 1943.
3. Sharon Lou Anne Briggs born in Battle Creek April 1947.
