      Shirley Schilleman, Paul Vance to Many At New London Church

      The First Congregational church at New London will be the setting for the marriage of Miss Shirley Ann Schilleman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrv A. Schilleman, 2U0 1/2 High street, Neenah, former New London residents, and Paul Vance at 8 o'clock thsi evening. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Robert Magedanz, New London, and F. C. Vance, Ashland, Ky. The single ring rites will be performed by the Rev. Edward Beatty. The bride will be given in marriage by her father. Mrs. Russell Thiede will sing "I Love Thee," during the ceremony.

      Miss Alice Sawyer, Waukesha, will be the maid of honor, while best man will be Charles Wightman, Fond du Lac. Bridal aid will be Miss Billie Jo Vance, New London, sister of the bridegroom. James Schilleman, Neenah, brother of the bride, will serve as groomsman. Ushering duties will be shared by Arnold Hedtke and James Monsour, both of New London.

      Two hundred guests will attend a reception after the service in the church parlors. After a short wedding trip, the couple will live at route I, New London.

      The bride is a graduate of Washington High school. New London, and attended Carroll college, Waukesha where she was affiliated with Delta Zeta sorority, She is employed at the Zernicke Studio, Neenah.

      The bridegroom was graduated from Boyd County High school in Kentucky and attended Morehead State college, Morehead, Ky. He is a construction worker for the Runyon Construction Company, Fond du Lac, and is a veteran of the second world war and the Korean war.

      Shirley Vance New Hortonville Writer

      HORTONVILLE -- Shirley Vance, route 2, has been named The Post-Crescent correspondent for the Hortonville area. She will cover the Board of Education, the village Board and other activities in the local area. She served as a correspondent several years when ago when she and her husband, Paul, moved to Hortonville and owned and operated the Vance Studio and Camera Shop. She was the first editor of the Hortonville Star weekly newspaper in 1964 and later was editor of the combined Hortonville Star-New London Press. In that post, she received first-place awards in the National Federation of Press Women's writing competition. For her personal column, "On the Run," and for an editorial against allowing students to smoke in school. After 8'A years as editor, she left to take a position as office manager with the Larsen Co., a vegetable processor, in Hortonville. She is a production technologist with that firm today.

      Vance, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schilleman, 1310 Lawrence St., New London, graduated from Washington Senior High School, New London, and attended Carroll College, Waukesha, where she affiliated with Delta Zeta sorority.

      She has been active in many community activities. While president of the Hortonville Junior Woman's Club, she received the New London Jaycettes C.A.R.O.L. award and was named Post-Crescent clubwoman of the year. She is a co-trustee of the Dr. Towne Scholarship Fund.

      Vance lists among her interests the gathering of items concerning the history of Hortonville, microwave cookery, genealogy and antiques. She is taking a vocational school course on quilting.

      Her children are Paul Edward of Grand Junction, Colo., Charles, Sara and Andrew, who enjoy hunting, fishing and camping.

      Age 87, died Saturday, June 10, 1995 at St. Joseph Residence following a short illness. She was born May 12, 1908 in New London, the daughter of James Andrew and Luella (Sackett) Hoha, both pioneer settlers of New London. At three years of age, she moved to Withee, in Clark County and attended schools there. She returned to New London at 11 years of age and graduated from Lincoln High School. She was also a graduate of Milwaukee Vocational School, secretarial course. She worked for Drs. Noer and Tenley at the Waubeno Hospital. She married Harry A. Schilleman of Waubeno on March 12, 1933 in Antigo. They farmed on the Hoha farm in New London which is now the "Industrial Park" until 1954. They lived in Neenah and later in Hortonville where she owned the clothing store. She also worked for the Al Rollo Hammond Organ Studio in Appleton. Following retirement, she and her husband moved back to New London in 1978. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Shirley and Paul Vance, Hortonville; a son, James Jacob Schilleman, Menasha; six grandchildren: Paul E. Vance, Denver; Charles (Barbara) Vance, Hortonville; Sara Vance (Jeff Parks), Neenah; Andrew (Lori) Vance, Appleton; Lisa (Brett) Fischer, Appleton; Steven (Tina) Schilleman, Neenah; Scott (Patti) Werth, Appleton; eight great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Vance, Harley and Tehya Parks, Jess Vance, Erin and Eric Fischer, Andrea and Jacob Schilleman; her sister and brothers children: Gerald (Hazel) Gautsche, San Diego; Bill Jr. (Gerhardine) Gautsche, Hoffman Estates, Illinois; Lois (Elmo) Vance, Torrance, California; Betty (Ken) Smith, Ogdensburg; Joan (Al) Harden, Palo Cedo, California; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ivern (Isla) Schilleman, Appleton; Jake (Muriel) Schilleman, Waubeno; Mildred Redman, Rosemary Braun and Arlean Reese, all of Markesan; Florence Simons, Marion; Lucina Clavette, Antigo; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry on November 2. 1988; also her parents, a sister and brother-in-law: Susan and Bill Gautsche Sr.; a brother, Lawrence Charles. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 16, 1995 at the Cline-Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Luke Boucher officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 until 9 p.m.

      Edith was instrumental in starting and continuing the New London Lincoln High School Alumni Dinner and "Get Together" each year and it was her request that memorials be given to the New London Lincoln High School Scholarship Fund. Edith's family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at the New London Family Medical Center and St. Joseph Residence. Also to Rev. Luke Boucher, Drs. Rodriguez and Schlais, friends and relatives for their kindness, care and consideration.
