The Chronicle
Omak
A real treasure was lost on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2006 with the passing of Margaret Ann Finley, 82, of Omak. She retreated peacefully in her home surrounded by family, after a long bout with cancer.
Marge was born in Ellensburg, Wash on Nov. 12, 1923 to Loran and Elsie (Casey) Giddings. She grew up in Ellensburg and Republic, the youngest of ten siblings; Lorene (Rene), Don (Toby), Sarah (Toots), Leonard (Lenny), Edna (Tillie), William, Edward (Dick), Myron and Frank.
In her early years, she married David Wierald Lawson (1918-2003) and raised two children, Carol and Clifford (Kip), in Chelan. They divorced when the children were grown and Marge later fell in love and married Oliver (Slim) Finley on March 11, 1971. They worked together in the fruit packing business and shared a passion for roses, reading, gardening and the simple things in life. Slim's youngest daughter, Patty, came to live with them as a child and thus Marge was blessed with raising another daughter. She was also close to Slim's other grown children.
Marge lived a full life and touched the hearts of many who knew her. She took pride in her home and was always ready with a hot cup of coffee and treats for your sweet tooth or something fresh from her garden. She made everybody feel welcome and was never too busy to sit and visit or play cards with a passer?by. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Marge's love and zest for life lives on in her children: Carol and Jerry Goude; Kip and Judy Lawson; and Patty and Eric Steimert. Grandchildren: Bernette and Bill Richards; Carry and Trevor Salonan; Wayne and Rachel Lawson; Wendy and Mark Richard; Dawn Ann Lawson; Shandra and Marshall Steimert and many great-grandchildren.
Marge will be laid to rest next to her husband, Slim, on their 35th wedding anniversary, Saturday, March 11 at Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery with graveside services starting at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital.
Love you bunches, Gram!
Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville is in care of arrangements.
