Mrs. Edna M. Sims

Mrs. Edna M. Sims, 52, of 1920 DeWitt dr., died at 2 a. m. Saturday In Grandview hospital after a long illness. Born in Winchester, Ind., she had lived in Dayton 27 years and was a member of Messiah Lutheran church and Rebekah lodge in West Carrollton.

Surviving are her husband. Elmer Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mason or San Bernar-dino, Cal.; four daughters, Halsie and Sharon Sims and Mrs. Martha Bocock, all of Dayton, and Mrs. Betty Huffman of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, James! of Carswell Air Force base, Ft. Worth, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Pansy Clendenin and Mrs. Laura A. Brown, both of San Bernardino, [San Fernando, per Lynn Baumbalaugh] Cal.; three brothers, Felix W. Mason of Dayton, William A. of Springfield and Gordon G. of Blanchester, O., and seven grandchildren.

"One thing I wanted to mention is in the write up [on The Sackett Family Association] about my Grandma it states she passed away in Anderson, IN. She didn't, she passed in Parker City, IN. If you look at her obituary it clearly states where she died. Also, the picture of Grandma and Papaw that I believe your Mom put on there says it was taken 'in the early 50s before they moved to Southern California to a retirement community'. They moved to California in the late 40s, they had a darling yellow house. I remember it well. I have pictures of it. My parents moved to California in December of 1949 as Mom wanted to be close to her folks. Before they moved they lived somewhere around Randolph County, my Mom told me where but I really don't remember. I was born in 1955 in California. I spent alot of time at their house...my Papaw worked at a Nursery not far from their home. He passed away at that house."

[Correction:] "Papaw had just come home from the Nursery. Grandma said he didn't come in right away which was not unusual. She went outside and he was laying in the front yard under the big tree. He had a stroke...in the hospital he contracted pneumonia then passed."

Ernest Mason

FARMLAND -- Ernest Mason, 85, a former resident of Farmland, died Saturday in San Bernadino (sic), Calif, where he had lived for the past 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; a daughter, Mrs. Pansy Clendenin, San Bernadino; three sons, Felix and Gail, Dayton, Ohio, and Arthur, Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Watson, Farmland, and a brother, Bert, Ridgeville.

Friends may call at the Thornburg Funeral, Home, Farmland, after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be there at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Zelma Mills officiating. Burial will be In Cedar Cemetery, Farmland.

Note: The death location and residence is not correct. He died in San Fernando, in a hospital near where he lived.
