      Marvine Larson

Passed peacefully at home on Friday, December 19, 2003 in Greenbrae, CA, at the age of 80 due to cancer.

Marvine was born in Zenda, Kansas in 1923, where she was raised on the family farm homesteaded by her grandparents until going on to college. She went to Southwestern College and then received her MBA from Northwestern, with a focus on marketing and business administration.

She worked in Chicago for Golden State, a dairy distribution company, and was then transferred to San Francisco where she did office work and marketing research. She met her husband, Milt (deceased in 1990), while working for Golden State, and they were married in 1949. They moved to Mill Valley in 1951 after the birth of their first son, Dave, and she became a homemaker.
Marvine was very active in church activities at Peace Lutheran Church, leading the women's Friday morning Bible class for more than 40 years and later becoming the first woman lay minister at the church. She was also active in the various school activities of her three sons throughout her life. Later in life she was able to travel worldwide. She was a member of the Marin Outdoor Art Club and participated in various hiking and walking groups in many areas of the Bay Area, including Mount Tamalpais and San Francisco. Marvine was devoted to her husband, children, and church throughout her life.

Marvine is survived by her son, Dave of Seattle, son George and daughter in-law Heidi of San Rafael, son Art of San Jose, granddaughter Kimberly and grandson Christopher, and her brother Kenneth of Wichita, Kansas.

A Memorial Service for Marvine Larson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003, at Peace Lutheran Church, Mill Valley. Friends are invited to a visitation Friday, December 26, at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel, 270 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The family prefers contributions to Peace Lutheran Church, 205 Tennessee Valley Road, Mill Valley, CA, 94941 or The Good Shepherd Fund, Conservatorship Program, 1641 North First Street, San Jose, CA, 95112.
