Former Camp Officer Dies

Abilene friends have learned of the recent death in New Guinea of Lt. Col. Merrick Breck, formerly executive officer of the Camp Berkeley Station hospital.

No details were known of the circumstances surrounding his death, although it was reported to have been through drowning.

Colonel Breck, whose home was in Chicago, was stationed at Berkeley for some time, and had bought a home in Belmont addition. His wife and daughter lived here until he was transferred to Camp Ellis and then overseas.

Hoch, age 49, wife of Stephen Hoch, passed away at the home of her brother, near Monticello after several weeks illness Wednesday night, March 17, 1971. Minnie Marie Sackett was born near Monticello, July 1, 1921, the daughter of Matthew Dunham and Bertha King Sackett. She received her early education in the schools of the Monticello area and graduated with the Class of 1940. She later moved to Wyandotte, Michigan, where she was married to Steven Hoch July 13, 1946 and the couple made their home in Wyandotte, Michigan. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, Wyandotte. She is survived by her husband, five childrenm, Charles, Karen, Mrs. Alan Reifsnider, Stephen in the U.S. Navy. Linda and Gary all of Wyandotte, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her father and two infant brothers. Funeral services were held Monday morning, March 22, 1971 at eleven o'clock at the Goettsch Funeral home and interment in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello. Rev. Walter A.
